Telecommunication Filter products are normally associated with Laser diodes operating in NIR 830, 1310 and 1550nm wavelength regions. Fibre optics are used to transmit the light with additional elements such as filters (to modify or divide the signal) or ball lenses to couple fibres together with minimal losses.
Low loss AR coatings are essential for coupling elements such as ball lenses.
Steep edge filters or Bandpass Filters are used for multiplexing. In addition attenuation filters may be added to a system. For some applications filters may be coated directly onto the fibre facets.
The basic principles can be extended to other wavelength ranges where fibre optic technology is used to transmit light.
All of these Filters are hard, durable and environmentally stable and can therefore be produced in a variety of shapes and sizes. This final sizing step is carried out at Envin where finished filters are produced from 1mm square to >100mm diameter. Thickness can be as low as 0.2mm and special considerations such as flatness and parallelism are routinely catered for.
Detailed Optical performance measurements are made using the highest standard Spectrophotometers (Perkin Elmer Lambda 900 & 983G).
Envin is able to offer a complete service from Coating and Filter design to prototyping and full manufacture covering the Ultraviolet, Visible and Infrared regions. Custom products are a speciality of the company.
