Custom Optical Filters

Envin Scientific have the equipment and expertise to manufacture custom optical filters with fully tested and verified characteristics, suitable for a wide range of applications.

We use a variety of different substrates, thin-film filters and absorption coatings to produce laminated filters with tight tolerances and excellent spectral characteristics.

Our custom optical filters can be manufactured as flat mirrors, absorption windows, prisms, curves and lenses, giving additional mechanical function to the finished filter.

We welcome unique challenges and unusual requirements – so whatever you need your optical filters to do, the Envin Scientific team would love to hear from you.

What are Custom Optical Filters?

Custom optical filters include everything from a small modification to a stock product, through to a completely novel component built from scratch to your specification.

We can design and produce custom assemblies to support your optical filters, allowing them to be mounted more easily and safely into equipment.

Our standard absorption filters are offered in thicknesses of 1, 2 and 3mm, with square dimensions of 50 x 50mm.

Custom dimensions can be produced as rapid prototypes, with a minimum filter size of just 1.4mm square.

What is Custom Thin Film Coating?

Envin Scientific offer a wide range of optical thin film filters and coated filters with capabilities including anti-reflection, bandpass, fluorescence filters, reflectors, IR filters, LED applications, shortwave/longwave, notch filters, beam splitters and more.

Some of our most complex spectral profiles are achieved by using thin film coating to laminate different optical characteristics on to a single lens or filter.

Custom thin film coating allows us to create bespoke filters by using multiple layers to give you a sophisticated result, while keeping the finished filter as thin as possible.

From imaging applications and data analysis, through to LED technology and manipulating visible light, this is one of the best ways to get the results you need from a single bespoke optical filter.

Custom Optical Filters Fully Tested

We supply custom optical filters fully tested with recorded data, so you can see the filter’s optical characteristics and spectral profile for yourself.

To do this we use trusted brand-name testing equipment including:

• Perkin Elmer Lambda 900 spectrophotometers in the 175 nm to 3.2 microns range
• Perkin Elmer 983G spectrophotometer in the 2-30 microns range

You receive the test results in electronic format for further data processing as required, and every test run is fully traceable, with labelled process logs and machine runs.

What Do You Need?

Contact Envin Scientific today to tell us what you need from your bespoke optical filters, and our team will work with you to determine the best combination of substrate, coatings and thin-film laminate layers to achieve the desired outcome.

We will aim to produce a custom optical filter to your specifications, typically within the range of 1.4 mm to 50 mm square and thicknesses of 1-3 mm, although more complex filters may need to be thicker in order to accommodate the various laminate layers.

To make an enquiry, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss your needs and how best to achieve them with a fully tested bespoke optical filter.
